DeNiro Won an Award!
We are excited to announce that DeNiro: I AM NOT A DOG has won a 2026 San Francisco Book Festival Children’s Book award. While we didn’t win first place, we were one of the Runners-up in the category. This is an incredible honor to be even considered among such talented a diverse group of authors.
About the Author
Sidney Burrows Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois. A Golden Retriever enthusiast with a soft spot for all breeds. He’s spent 26 years as the companion of two wonderful golden’s named DeNiro and Bullwinkle. DeNiro: I AM NOT A DOG is his first children’s picture book. Intrigued and inspired to write after witnessing the authentic, spontaneous connections he observed between hundreds of dogs and children while walking through parks or neighborhoods. Sidney takes the reader on a hilarious Tour De Force that will have you laughing, smiling, and for a moment, suspending your disbelief. A magical journey that taps into the imagination.
